Riding the Prouty for a Cure – by Suzanne Dudley-Schon

Posted on Jul 2, 2017 by in July 2017 | 7 comments

Riding down the white line
my pedals turn as fast
as my lungs can allow.

Riding down the white line
my parents, long dead, parade in slow turns,
and the dusty ache blooms.

Riding down the white line
I teeter on my own mortality–
a twist and a nod away.

Riding down the white line
the fresh hay and buttercups
whisper on my skin,
cloak the mind and shuffle time

so that there is only the white line
and no white line at all.
