Slam – by Paul Fisher

Even when we read in silence
the throat’s deep well
ripples like a spring-fed pool.
The tongue will not hold still.

Do shouted words ring true?
Ask the deafened air.

Ignore the buzz and blare
of restless skies and noisy stars.
To ease the ache between your ears
let the darkness hum to you.
